Normanby Aberdeen Angus
Established in 2008 in the historic hamlet of Normanby, we are a small herd on 64 acres of grassland using the very best bulls for artificial insemination exclusively.
We select for easy calving, growth, muscle, and milky dams, aiming to produce meat of the highest quality. The best modern AA bulls, selected for AI use on published (ABRI) data, can provide all these qualities. (ABRI is the Agricultural Business Research Institute, Armidale, NSW, Australia used by AA Breedplan).
We are very conscious of environmental issues. Our well managed grassland is making an important contribution to the essential removal of carbon dioxide from the biosphere.
We would almost certainly be qualified to register as Organic but there is no abattoir within reasonable travelling distance that will accept Organic animals.
We encourage clover and deep rooting herbs and use no synthetic fertilisers. Our hay field is full of blue butterflies on the Birdsfoot Trefoil.
Animals travel a short distance to the local abattoir and all butchering is done on farm.
Meat pre-ordered can be collected fresh, otherwise it is quickly frozen.
Quick freezing does not detract from the quality and freshness in any way.
